My Job Went to India

Hi. I wanted to clear something up.

On the last day of RailsConf, it appeared to attendees that Dan Moniz didn’t show up for his security talk. It turns out we never actually told him his proposal was accepted. Our fault. Please spread the word. Dan would have loved to speak (he proposed a great looking talk on Rails security).

The attendees of the then-quiet session stepped up and converted it into a lightning talk round (which is cool, because we had hoped to fit one more in). Hopefully we’ll see Dan speaking at next year’s conference.

Ouch! I was there. That sounded like a really good and realtive talk. Maybe Dan could do a video and we could watch? +1 from me.

  2. Carl Porth Says:

I was there too. It was inspiring to see the ad-hock open mic session though. I’ve officially removed Dan from my “On Notice” list. Thanks for clearing that up.

+1 to a video / blog post of the ideas that he wanted to present. (+3 if backed with railsconf style ukulele.)

  3. Seth Ladd Says:

I’d like to add that I thought the lighting talks was the second best session I attended (the first being The Business of Rails). I enjoyed the passion of the speakers, as well as the crowd’s general interest.

  4. Joshua Warchol Says:

The people around me in the room thought maybe he’d gotten held up by the TSA, though mostly just because it would be ironic. Glad to hear it was just a goof.

  5. Deb Lewis Says:

Sounded like a good subject (tho the impromptu lightning talks ended up being a great session). +1 if Dan has any material or preso slides he’d like to post links to, for those folks who were interested in hearing his talk.

+1 For any content from Dan. Like to hear more about this topic from experienced pov.

  7. Joey deVilla Says:

Of all the speakers you forgot to notify, why did it have to be the old friend who I haven’t seen in years?

(Okay, and yes, who also owes me a lot of back rent?)
